~ Sixteen Baskets of Mud ~
In the Fall of 1996 we fought back our fears and finally bought a computer. To help make the long hours learning to use it more bearable, I hung a framed print of an old basket quilt above my desk alongside the computer. A little touch of soft in a hard new techno world! That summer I found the same block on a quilting program and printed it out 16 times so I could learn to paper piece the triangle part of the block. This is the ultimate "mud" quilt with many variations of swamp green with a few pinks, blues and golds for interest. All free-motion quilting, Cotton Classic batt, nylon thread, 56" square. In 1998 this quilt won a first place at the AQS show in Paducah, KY, in the Professional Wall Quilt Category. Detail, below.
